Original single owner has black 1985 Mercedes 380 SL for sale. Vehicle has 80700 miles and comes with extra hardtop in addition to soft cover lid. The soft cover is not the original. It was replaced over 10-15 years ago. The car has never been in an accident.
The car has been very well maintained. It has always been kept in an attached garage and has had numerous, regular oil changes and lubes, the latest in Sept., 2011. The battery was replaced in March, 2010. The car was tuned up with new parts in March, 2007. In addition, numerous hoses were replaced at that time. In Sept., 2011 the relay on the fuel pump was replaced. The car has always passed the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Inspection and currently is inspected through October, 2013. The shocks are new in April, 2007. The tires were replaced July, 2005 at 77,123 miles. Hence, there is plenty of life remaining on the current tires. The exhaust system was inspected by Midas October, 2009 and found to be in good condition. The muffler and tailpipe has been replaced, but I can't state when.
To my knowledge the only problem with the car is that the air conditioning system experienced a very small leak many, many years ago. Since the car is a convertible, the AC has never been needed and was never repaired. There are 2 small rust spots on the car. One about 2 inches long & 1 inch high on the side down near the rocker panel. The other spot is about 1 inch in diameter on one of the rocker panel. The car does show some wear on the driver's seat, but this is very slight. There are a couple wear spots on the soft cover and a small crack one of the side back plastic panels. Aside from these few small issues the car is in very good condition for a 26 year old car. This is a non-smoking family; the ash trays have never been used. It has the original Becker sound system.
