If I'm not mistaken, this is a 1979 Mazda RX7. I'm not sure about the year, but I'm almost positive it's a 79. I really liked this car. I bought it when I was about 19 years old, which was around 1992 or 1993. I forget. The car was so low and fun to drive. It was pretty quick. I think I got it used from a guy in New Fairfield, CT for around $1500. It had high mileage, but it ran very well. Something like 170,000 miles. The guy told me that it would last a long time because of the rotary engine. That engine did well, but it had a small oil leak on the top of it. Because of that oil leak, I decided to pull the entire engine out and rebuild it. I can now say that I've rebuilt a rotary engine. That was an adventure.
Otherwise, the car was good. It did have some electrical box go bad once, but my father and I diagnosed it and I bought the replacement part. Because the box went bad, two of the four spark plugs didn't fire. There were two boxes on the side of the distributor cap. Each controlled two spark plugs. The car ran with one bad box, but it didn't run very well at all.
I eventually sold this car to my cousins who tore the engine out and put in a Chevy small block. How, I have no idea.
